Goldsheen Obsidian highlights the understanding that the light of a star is only visible in juxtaposition to the darkness surrounding it. Our ancestors believed that each star had its own spirit, maybe that of a deity, an unborn soul, or the soul of a deceased individual that had a particularly notable life. The star is also representative of the pentagram (“5-pointed star”) which is recognized in paganism, Christian mysticism, druidry, magic, sacred geometry, alchemy, Kabbalah, tarot, and Freemasonry. The 5 points often represent the elements of: earth, air, fire, water, and spirit. However in numerology the number 5 is comprised of the feminine number 2 and masculine number 3, creating harmony in the union of opposites.

A black or deep brown Obsidian displaying a golden chatoyance when viewed in strong light, created from gas bubbles aligning across the layers during formation.
